After a moderate wait I was able to get a live support rep. What kind or condescending product support/warranty is this - product support has no business asking about product price. While the product was delivered promptly enough, alas - it wouldn't even switch on.
At this point - it became pretty obvious that he'd lost all interest in the call and wanted to just get me off the phone. I highly doubt their product warranty means anything to them or - or even if they will stand behind it. Then I asked about their product warranty - I even have a product warranty card - he said, "call the seller first or return it to them.".
I ordered the Blue Ant X5i from Shopcell - an Amazon market place vendor. - send it back to the seller.".When I mentioned the description says - brand new and it arrived in new packaging his answer didn't change. Their product support and brand standards are probably just like their product - substandard and indifferent
My first step was to call "BLUEANT" customer support (North America). We went over diagnostics, but within the first minute of the call, his question was "How much did you pay for this product.".When I answered $30 on Amazon.com - his response was " Must have been refurbished.
They fall apart after a few months of use. What does bug me is the problem of the rubber earbuds. When I answer an incoming call, the person on the other end mentions an ear-splitting screech and then every thing seems ok.
Light in the ear with clarity on most of my calls. My first Z9 headset was excellent; however, I managed to run over the headset and it simply decided not to work. I have owned two Z9s and, in general, I would say the product is excellent.
My second has a strange problem. My expectation is that if you can build a product that does everything else well, why would you let poor quality earbuds detract from the customer's perception and rating of the product. Reception in wind works well - mostly.
I ordered the Z9 because I do a lot of driving, and I didn't want to hold a phone to my ear.
BUY. Great product, great supplier and great customer service. BUY. I bought one for a friend of mine and should have bought 2 when I ordered his. BUY. It solved a lot of problems I was having and stop me from think it was the cell. I LOVE the Z9. I recommend it to every one I speak to who say I sound like I am right next door.
Background noise still a problem according to my listeners. Nothing spectacular, given all the pomp.
If I want to switch from laptop to Blackberry, I have to either turn off my entire laptop (it doesn't have a bluetooth radio off option), or remove the Z9 device from the bluetooth profile completely, which means I have to reinstall it from scratch again the next time. There is a new version called the Z9i, which claims to have better/more options for multiple devices. If I want to switch from cell phone to laptop, I have to complete turn off the cell phone bluetooth radio, which means the Blackberry loses all of its blutooth connections (including bluetooth synching to PC and modem use). I may switch back and forth regularly, depending on who I am calling.
It is better than all the others I tried, both in fit and sound quality. Depending on your setup, this can range from a nuisance to a major roadblock. This is a fantastic headset for use with a single device (phone, laptop/Skype, etc).
For example, my setup is to use the Z9 with my laptop for Skype calls and my Blackberry for other calls. I don't know if this limitation about having to turn off the current device has been fixed, however. If you have a high need for switching between multiple devices, however, be aware that the advertised "on the fly switching" between up to 3 devices does not really work very well. The major shortcoming is that you have to completely turn off the current device (or its bluetooth radio) before you can switch to another device.
This makes no sense at all, since the Z9 has a button control for disconnecting from current device.
